Waxing Tips
Waxing is a method of removing hair from the root as opposed to shaving or depilatories, which remove hair, from the surface. The waxed hair grows back much more slowly because it has to form a new root. The waxed hair is usually much softer as well.

Surface hair removal normally stimulates growth and density. ItÂ’s like pinching back the leaf of a plant to stimulate the growth of the root, which in this case would be your hair.

All waxing requires a minimum of 1/4 inch of hair growth. That allows the hair to be gripped by the wax to insure the pulling of the root. Most people wax on a 3 to 6 week schedule.

There are a variety of waxes available. There is the original honey wax, which is a soft hot wax and can usually pull all hair types. Then there are soft cream waxes, which can be scented, and have additional soothing ingredients. There is also hard wax that can be very gentle but does not always pull all hair types. Hard wax can often require several pulls.

Most quality salons will have a selection of wax types to choose from. There is a difference in waxing face or body. Typically face waxes should be creamy or hard so that they are more gentle on the skin.
